Laguna Beach & The Montage Hotel

My husband and I recently spent the first few days of our anniversary in beautiful San Diego, and concluded our trip in Laguna Beach at the lovely Montage Hotel.  The Montage is definitely a special occasion kind of hotel and the type of resort where you would enjoy celebrating a milestone birthday or big anniversary.  Or maybe you just want to celebrate getting away with friends, and that is fine too.  The celebration is entirely up to you!  Once you check into The Montage, there is absolutely no reason to leave this beautiful resort.  No reason at all.  Let me know if you find one.

After doing a lot of touring around San Diego, we completely relaxed at The Montage, where we throughly enjoyed the beach, the pool, and the beautiful walking paths that surround the resort.  If you are a spa person, The Montage has one of the most beautiful spas I have ever seen and a gym that looks out over the Pacific.

Normally the pool is not this empty, but I happened to be up early one morning before the crowds arrived.  We were there over Labor Day weekend and it was quite busy.

When we arrived, we headed right to the pool where I was lucky enough to score a front row seat to take in this beautiful wedding that was just about to take place.  My husband decided to work out, so I met several ladies at the pool and we ordered drinks and watched the festivities unfold.  Seriously, what an amazing setting for a wedding.

One of the lovely paths that lead down to the beach.  If you don’t want to hit the gym, you can just walk up and down this beautiful path several times for a good workout.  The view can’t be beat!  When given the choice, I would much rather be outside working out, wouldn’t you?

How beautiful is the Montage vegetable garden?  Absolutely love those garden beds.

I love the Cape Cod meets California coastal/Arts & Crafts style architecture of this resort.

These are the warm beach days I dreamed of as a teen while growing up in the frozen tundra of the Midwest.  My first trip to California was at the age of twelve, and I knew immediately that this was the place for me.  I remember looking at snow up to the middle of my bedroom window in January thinking, “will it ever be warm again, will the snow ever melt?”.

Images like these kept me going through the cold winter months.

Yes, you are exactly right, that is me doing my thing when I’m not blogging.  I’m just trying out a few new tricks on my board!

The beautiful Studio Restaurant.

If you don’t want to dine here, there are a few outdoor seats (come early to grab one) and enjoy a drink at sunset.  There are a few cozy couches on the side of the restaurant near the garden.

I hope you enjoyed this visit to the beautiful Montage Resort and Spa.

While in Laguna, don’t forget to visit Forest Avenue in downtown Laguna Beach.  It is full of great restaurants and chic boutiques, and is definitely worth a visit!

I have a fun fashion post coming up later this week so stay tuned to see what trend I’m enjoying this fall!

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. April this is lovely. Great photos too. I have always wanted to stay at The Montage. Love that they have such great access to the beach with a path. The Cape Cod shingle style is beautiful too. I think I have to plan my next spring trip down there with a stop! I didn’t know you were from the Midwest. My mom was from Milwaukee and she dreamed of coming here too. She came out and never went back. x Kim
