Resort Wear I’m loving!

I have a couple of warm weather vacations coming up quite soon and these trips have me dreaming of stylish sun hats, beautiful maxi dresses, and lovely swim suit cover ups! ¬†It really is all about the cover up these days if you know what I mean. ūüėČ ¬†I’m not exactly walking around the resort in my bathing suit, but rather in my cover up, which I think has to be really cute if I’m going to be spending that much time in it! ¬†Side note: the last time the gal pals and I were away, a woman a bit younger than us, maybe by just 6 months or so, decided to strut around the resort in her bikini and cowboy boots. ¬†Don’t get me wrong, she had the figure for it, but it was an interesting look for sure. ¬†From what we could surmise her rock star boyfriend didn’t seem to mind.

Anyway, here are a few pieces I’m loving and look forward to packing in my suitcase very soon.

I’m normally not a Vineyard Vines shopper, but I can’t deny how much I absolutely love their classic preppy pieces and they have a beautiful resort collection out this year that is just too good to pass up!

This blue maxi dress from Vineyard Vines is so beautiful and I think it would look good on just about everybody.

Another lovely maxi dress from La Blanca that could do double duty as either a cover up or a fun dress for day or night.

Loving this teal colored dress from Boston Proper,¬†and what I’m loving even more are the gladiator sandals from Sam Edelman. ¬†I just don’t think I can pull off these sandals at 5″4″. I think they look better on tall frames.

I’m in LOVE with this beautiful Trina Turk dress!¬† The length is perfect and the dramatic print is stunning and definitely says I’m on vacation and not driving dance carpool.

This gorgeous embellished maxi is from Boston Proper.  If you want to add a bit of razzle and dazzle to your vacation wardrobe, I think this would be the ticket. This is on my must have list!

Cover ups

This linen classic cover up is from Vineyard Vines and is adorable if you are looking for a solid color and not anything too flashy, but just cute and comfortable.

Another fun cover up from Vineyard Vines, which I think could do double duty as a tunic with jeans.

Love this flutter sleeve cover up from Venus and the price point is so reasonable you may decide to buy several in a few different colors!

I have always loved black and white together!  It looks classic, but bold at the same time and this cover up looks incredibly comfortable!  This fun cover up is from Venus.

The Trina Turk print I’m loving, but also available in a cover up. You could wear this as a dress if you wanted to and you could wear the dress as a cover up. ¬†Very versatile pieces.

By the way….I love Trina’s bathing suits and I have a wonderful collection that I go back to every year. They fit really well and I always find them to be flattering and they are so comfortable! ¬†In my opinion, you can’t put a price tag on a bathing suit. ¬†It is the dreaded purchase for most women so when you find something you love, you have to get it and disregard the price for the most part. ¬†A glass of champagne with a friend before bathing suit shopping and a spray tan are essential to the buying process. ¬†So is good music and lighting!

Another beautiful cover up that could also be worn as a dress. ¬†This sundress / cover up from Shopbop comes in a variety of different colors. ¬†In love with those adorable tassels. I believe this one is now sold out, but they have a few other colors still available. ¬†And here and here are more options. ūüôā

Aren’t these lounge pants from La Blanca gorgeous?! ¬†These could be worn as a swimsuit cover up or worn as everyday pants with a white tank or a lightweight chambray shirt tied at the waist. ¬†So bold and beautiful!

If you want a full¬†cover up in this fabric, but don’t like the pants, here is a great option. This has a Mexican getaway with plenty of margaritas involved written all over it, doesn’t it?!

I think it is always fun to pick up a few new pieces for vacation, don’t you? I don’t go crazy as I have several pieces that I tend to go back to every season for vacation, but a few new pieces is always nice to get you into getaway mode. Shopping for a getaway is half the fun, isn’t it?

Stay tuned as I have a post coming up about my recent weekend away in Los Angeles with my teens!

Thanks for stopping by and your comments always mean a lot!

  1. April… I’ve been a “cover-up” girl for years. Love all your choices of cover-ups as well as accessories. I’m in the market now because my clothes have all “shrunk” over the winter. Have a good weekend!!

  2. April, Wonderful picks for a getaway! I love all your choices! I have to order one of those fringed hats like you have. Also I want one of those striped coverups. 3. Love this post, April! We’re heading to Cancun for spring break…and I just ordered the aqua dress from Boston Proper, thanks to your suggestion! I like the looks of the cover ups on Venus too. How’s the quality? Have you ordered things from them? The price point is sure attractive! I don’t mind less spend cover ups – since I usually pitch them after a season…
    Thanks for your inspiration !
