What I wore in Hawaii

I’ve been back from Hawaii for about three weeks, but it seems like forever ago that I was there.  So much anticipation for a trip, and poof, it’s all over and done.  So sad that time goes by sooo fast!  There should be a vacation mode setting where time moves a little slower, right?  I had a great time celebrating my milestone birthday on the Big Island with my family and my daughter’s best friend.  Always fun for our kids when they bring along friends and a little easier on us.  The day after we got back I came down with something that stuck around for awhile and ended up being pneumonia.  No fun, but I’m finally feeling better.

I wanted to share a few dresses that I wore while we were on vacation and currently have on heavy rotation.

I’m in love with this chambray dress from Trina Turk.  I know what you are thinking….a denim dress in Hawaii!?  It is so lightweight and comfortable, and the perfect dress to wear to dinner or for touring around town in my pink slip ons.

I love the pockets and the fun fringe around the sleeves and hemline.

I purchased these cute wedges from one of my favorite local stores, Kicks.

The perfect heel height and the perfect shoe for everyday.

The cute pink slip ons I was telling you about.  I also mentioned them in my pink post a few months ago.  They are currently my go to shoe by Uggs.

I picked up this fun dress from a local boutique called, Pickled.  They only have a few of this one left, but it also comes in a red pattern in the same style, which I think I’m going to pick up for my upcoming girls trip to Cabo.  The dress is by Los Angeles based designer, Veronica M.  Her pieces are always at the perfect price point and always on trend, without being over the top, but always current and cute.  I love it with wedges or a cute sandal.

I love everything about this dress, including the fact that it is lined and incredibly comfortable.

Wondering how to hide your bra straps?

A strapless bra or silicone breast petals come in very handy.

Here I am wearing it with a pair of Sam Edelman blue suede sandals.  And they are marked down to $38!!  Love the Gigi sandal!

Always fun to have a few special pieces in your suitcase when packing for a getaway.  I like to shop my closet, but it is also nice to pick up something new for a trip, isn’t it?!

I will be back soon with a post about our time on The Big Island and what we enjoyed doing while we were there.

Have you found some cute dresses for spring or summer?  Please share!

April  🙂

    • Hey Monica, You are way too nice! I’m just trying to keep it together and a spray tan does wonders! xoxo

  1. April, I am so sorry you had pneumonia ! Nothing is worse than coming back and being sick. I hope you are better now.

I love this post and your dress from Trina and the cute cold-shouldered one!! I also love the Sam T-straps and your pink slip-ons. Those both look like great travel shoes.

So I am curious where this resort is. It looks beautiful. Is this near the Mauna Lani? I love that area of Hawaii. Can’t wait to read your post! Take care. Miss you.

    • Hi Kim, Thank you! I’m feeling a lot better now, but it was a rough few weeks. Glad you liked the dresses! Don’t you have the Trina chambray dress, too? I’m loving it! I always love Sam Edelman shoes, in all varieties, and I can never have enough pairs!! Sooo many cute styles!! We stayed in the Mauni Lani resort area at The Pauoa Beach Club right next door to the Fairmont Orchid. We had dinner at the Canoe House for my birthday. Always one of my favorite places for dinner. We all need to plan a vacation there at the same time since we both love that area! Hope to see you soon! April xo

  2. Love the fringed denim on you April! It’s so you! The off the shoulder number is from Pickled is darling as well…I haven’t been there in ages, I should pop in. I still want to spend a little time in Zara – saw so many cute things in the big one in Soho. I’m thinking maybe we can hop on over together. You would love the trendy checkerboard print they have loads of right now. Keep the fun posts comin’! xo

    • Thanks, Bita! I am definitely due for a trip to Zara! Thanks for the compliments on the dresses…..cute and comfortable for sure! xo
